The iconic iMac G4 turns 20 - This Geek in Review for 2022-01-14
By goz
Twenty years ago Apple released what I think is one of their most iconic computer design, the iMac G4. When OS X 10.2 was released in September of 2003, I bought the 17" model. It was such a great machine. I still have it, and I dig it out every once in awhile to relive that September. It is upgraded to the max 2GB RAM and I replaced the spinny hard drive with an SSD.
If you needed another reason to remove the Facebook iPhone app
It appears that the Facebook iPhone app is consistently recording accelerometer date. This is the data that is produced from movements of the phone. With this data, Facebook knows when you put your phone down, when you pick it up, when you put it in a pocket or purse, etc.
Where it gets scarier is that Facebook can use this information to find out who is close to you. Riding in the car with someone? Your phones will be moving the same way, so FB will know that you are with that person.
My recommendation is to uninstall the app. If you must use Facebook on your phone, use the website.
